Where is Yurt Hideaway?

Yurt Hideaway Rye Accommodation is tucked away in a residential street in Tootgarook, Mornington Peninsula (Bunurong Country), Victoria, Australia (see below for map).

Tootgarook is a small suburb before the township of Rye. Both Rye and Tootgarook are popular holiday destinations as they are close to the beach and centrally located on the southern Mornington Peninsula. Here you’ll have easy access to all the peninsula has to offer, including the Peninsula Hot Springs & Alba Thermal Springs.

Getting to Tootgarook/Rye Accommodation

Rye and Tootgarook are one hour drive (97 km) from Melbourne.

The best way to get to your Rye accommodation and to travel around the peninsula is to drive. If you don’t own your car, we recommend hiring one for your holiday.

You can get to Rye with public transport (train and bus system). See the PT Journey Planner for travel within Victoria, including details and train/bus times.

If you are not driving a car, alternatives to get around during your holiday are limited. Some Ubers and taxis are around but they are have limited availability all year round. If you are an experienced cyclist, you can hire a bike (for example at Rye Bike Shop), please check maps first so you can plan for distances.

From Yurt Hideaway, turn right at the driveway and walk just 800m to arrive at the endless beach and calm shallow waters of the bay, known as Capel Sound. It’s the perfect place for a dip, relaxing in the sun or a long beach walk.
