What is a Mongolian Yurt?

Yurts, also known as gers, are a circular structures that have been used by nomadic tribes in central Asia for thousands of years. Even today, yurts are lived in for many months at a time, and are deconstructed & transported when it is time to move.

The structure of a traditional Mongolian yurt is made from all natural materials, namely, timber, sinew and horse hair ropes. At the peak of the roof is the the crown.

Quality yurts are sturdy and well insulated. The structure of the yurt covered with a cotton lining, thick felt, PVC and canvas. Yurt are designed to withstand extreme weather, including high wind and storms. So you can expect to be warm and cosy in the yurt in winter.

Yurt Hideaway features a 6 metre wide genuine Mongolian Yurt, handmade with traditional materials and imported direct from Mongolia. The hardwood floor, furnishings, mod cons & landscaping, transform this amazing structure into a blissful retreat.

A few steps from the beautifully furnished yurt, is the modern private bathroom with hot water, luxury towels, local handmade bathroom products & eco amenities. The private outdoor area includes a kitchenette stocked with a wide variety of Australian herbal & black teas, Fair Trade hot chocolate and a pod coffee machine with quality eco coffee pods.

Along with the modern facilities, staying at the yurt maintains your connection to the elements. Hearing the sounds of the rain on the roof and the birds in the morning allow you to appreciate the best of camping. The robust structure and insulation of the yurt means you feel safe and sound in all weather. The heater in the insulated yurt will keep you warm and cosy all night.

This unique glamping accommodation is centrally placed on the Mornington Peninsula. Guests are close to the activities, sights and tastes of the peninsula, which of course includes the hugely popular Peninsula Hot Springs and the new Alba Thermal Springs & Spa – that boast natural thermal mineral waters to be enjoyed in pools and private baths.
